The Niagara Hindu Samaj welcomes the Niagara community to our Open House on Wednesday, May 16th. Our Open Houses are eagerly awaited for good reason! Delicious vegetarian food, scintillating dances, lilting music, exciting yoga demonstrations and guided tours of the Shiv Mandir temple provide a fascinating glimpse of India’s cultural heritage!
Folk Arts Festival 2012
Niagara Hindu Samaj is proud to participate in the Niagara Folk Arts Festival, the longest-running festival of its kind in Canada. Our Ambassador this year is Jay Shah. Past Ambassadors have distinguished themselves at the Festival- last year’s Ambassador, Saumye Jain was honoured with the title of Ambassador of the Year.
The Niagara Hindu Samaj is grateful for the support it has received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). OTF funds have helped us provide programming in dance, yoga as well as vegetarian cooking. OTF is also supporting our current facility enhancement project at the Shiv Mandir.

Worship services (satsang) in observance of the eighth anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha (installation and consecration) of the Navagraha Devatas (the Nine Planetary Deities of the Hindu pantheon) will be held at the Shiv Mandir on Sunday, May 20th from 3 PM onwards.

Introducing Jay Shah, the Niagara Hindu Samaj’s Ambassador to the Niagara Folk Arts Festival, 2012! Jay is 16 years old, and is in Grade 11 at Westlane Secondary School, Niagara Falls. Jay is friendly, outgoing and talented. He is excited about the opportunity to represent the Niagara Hindu Samaj and present India’s rich and ancient cultural traditions to the Niagara community. He is also keenly looking forward to learning about other cultures! Please take a moment to say hello to Jay at the Open House!
We have a vibrant Senior’s Program funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care in partnership with Community Support Services of Niagara. Projects are selected for funding by LHIN (Local Health Integration Network).
